The tree was on a slope and I wanted to fall it onto the grass, so that it would be easier to buck it. So I had to go on the hill side to reach the base of the tree. At that time my chainsaw had only a 24" bar.
Made the hinge, I know maybe a little shy hinge there, but on dead oak I am a little scared of the trunk being brittle and breaking unexpectedly !
and the back cut:
TIMBER !!!!!!!!!!!!
Lots of firewood in perspective... and work to cut, split it, transport and stack !
I stopped hand splitting in 2006... this is the (almost) faithful "assistant" to replace my deficient muscles
The sections at the base were heavy !
Thirsty, sweaty and invaded by bugs!
