The Gobustan mud volcanoes are apparently very recent, just since 2001, after a spontaneous gas explosion. They are not hot, some are even pretty cold

Some just have tiny bubbles

Under the hot sun, the mud dries rapidly

They burp some mud...

... then refill and redo..

Fresh leak !

I was endlessly fascinated by the mud-covered bubbles

And how they "pop"

The black spots are the remnants of the skin of the previous bubble

Big bubble

REALLY big one !

Azer

Two "sunny-side-up" eggs

The volcanologist going to inspect...

The biggest crater.. but very quiescent

A few km away there is a tar pit, where oil oozes out of the ground
